At Heath House, homework is an essential component of our educational approach, starting in Kindergarten from the age of 3.
Children begin with daily reading, pencil control activities and gradually progress to more complex tasks, including spelling, times tables, and 11+ exam preparations. Homework reinforces classroom learning and promotes independent study habits.
Homework helps consolidate knowledge, develop time management skills and involve parents in their child’s education. It is crucial for fostering responsibility and academic discipline.
Assessments are a vital part of our educational philosophy at Heath House, enabling us to monitor progress and tailor support to each pupil's needs.
We employ a variety of assessment tools, including schemes for English, Maths, Verbal and Non-Verbal Reasoning, and Reading and Spelling. Children are assessed according to their abilities and progress. These assessments help identify strengths and areas for improvement, informing the tailored learning plan for each child, ensuring every child receives the necessary support to excel.
Assessments are conducted regularly throughout the academic year, providing continuous feedback on pupil progress.
Parents receive regular feedback on their child’s progress with the school's open door policy, encouraging communication between home and school. In addition, parents are invited to two parents evenings and are provided with two formal written reports each academic year.
