Art at Heath House encourages creativity and self-expression as pupils experiment with different mediums and techniques, drawing inspiration from famous artists such as Frida Kahlo, William Morris and Pablo Picasso to name a few. The children create flick paintings; build sculptures; demonstrate knowledge of angles, symmetry and geometry to produce a geometric animal for example; mix oil pastels and colours; paint abstract pictures and create collages.
Our Design projects enable pupils to develop practical skills by planning, designing, and creating their own models and structures whilst improving their fine motor skills.
The curriculum includes Music and Drama as key subjects. All Heath House pupils take part in the Trinity College London Graded Exams (Musical Theatre/Poetry and Prose). In addition, our pupils have the incredible opportunity to perform on stage at the historic Greenwich Theatre, where they perform a musical production in the Summer Term. Another highlight of the curriculum is the Gym & Dance display, which is held at the Blackheath Halls. This is a wonderful showcase of the children’s hard work and the skills they have learnt through their weekly Gym & Dance lessons.
The Heath House curriculum also includes weekly Music lessons, which all pupils participate in from Kindergarten to Prep Year 6. Pupils have the opportunity to use a range of musical instruments, including guitar, piano, drums, percussion, recorder and ukulele while learning musical theory.
