At Heath House, our pre-prep school (Years 1 & 2) is where children aged 5 to 7 grow into confident, capable learners—building on the foundations laid in the Early Years. Based at our Wemyss Road site, Pre-Prep combines strong academic teaching with an active, creative curriculum, delivered in small classes where every child is known and supported. Learning is lively, purposeful and full of encouragement—so children progress happily and steadily each term.
As a private pre-prep school in London, Heath House offers a curriculum that is both structured and engaging. Pre-Prep focuses on the core skills children need at Key Stage 1—secure reading and writing, confident number work, and a growing understanding of the world around them—while keeping learning practical and enjoyable. Our programme includes English, Maths and Science, enriched by Art, Languages, Music, Drama and Physical Education, including swimming. Children continue to learn Mandarin and French, and we place a strong emphasis on developing critical thinking and problem-solving skills, enabling pupils toprogress confidently and joyfully.
How we build strong readers
In our pre-prep school, children study a broad range of subjects taught in age-appropriate, connected ways. In Pre-Prep Years 1 & 2, pupils study: English, Maths, Science, Religious Education, History, Geography, French and Mandarin, Music/Singing, Art and Design, Drama, ICT, Physical Education, PSHE & RHE—with many topics naturally linked so children can make meaningful connections across their learning.
Families choose Heath House because our Pre-Prep combines clear academic direction with a genuinely supportive atmosphere.
